Job summary

Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence is seeking a Customs Professional to own key customs and international logistics activities for Waygate UK, focusing on Outward Processing Relief (OPR), UK import/export processes and customs compliance.

The role involves managing documentation, coordinating cross-border movements, and ensuring audit-ready records in line with UK HMRC requirements. Collaboration with brokers, forwarders and internal stakeholders is essential to drive issues to resolution.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of relevant experience in customs, import/export or international logistics.
• Strong practical knowledge of UK customs regulations, HMRC requirements and import/export procedures.
• Hands-on experience with customs and shipping documentation, including commercial invoices and import/export instructions.
• Experience with Outward Processing Relief (OPR) and cross-border shipment processes.
• Good understanding of Incoterms, HS Tariff Classification, country of origin and customs duties/valuation.
• Experience working with customs brokers, freight forwarders and internal stakeholders.
• Good Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, and good written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Manage the divisional Outward Processing Relief (OPR) process, including shipments between the UK and Germany.
• Prepare, review and issue import/export instructions, commercial invoices and customs/shipping documentation, ensuring compliance with HMRC requirements and UK customs regulations.
• Coordinate international shipments, including returns, drop shipments and other cross-border freight movements.
• Maintain accurate OPR, customs and shipment trackers and audit-ready records, supporting internal and external customs audits.
• Support customs classification and compliance activities, including HS Tariff Classification, country of origin, customs valuation and duty treatment.
• Work closely with the warehouse team, customs brokers, freight forwarders and internal stakeholders, providing guidance on customs processes and international shipment requirements.
• Identify customs and logistics risks, resolve operational issues and support continuous improvement of customs and international logistics processes.

Location: Telford (remote)

As a Customs Professional (f/m/d), you will take ownership of key customs and international logistics activities for Waygate UK, with a particular focus on Outward Processing Relief (OPR), UK import/export processes and customs compliance.

You will manage the associated customs and shipping documentation, coordinate cross-border movements, maintain accurate and audit-ready records, and ensure activities are completed in line with UK customs and HMRC requirements.

We are looking for an experienced customs and international logistics professional who is organised, proactive and detail-oriented, with strong knowledge of UK customs and the confidence to identify issues, advise stakeholders and drive them through to resolution.
