Job summary

Wickes in Bishop Auckland is opening a brand-new store and is hiring Customer Service Assistants for up to 24 roles. The position offers varied part-time hours (8, 16, 20, 24, or 32 per week) with training at the Durham store prior to launch.

You’ll join under Store Manager Andrew Sudder to help deliver an exceptional shopping experience from day one. Shifts include early, mid, and late patterns across seven days.

• Retail or customer-facing experience is preferred but not mandatory.

Big news for Bishop Auckland! We’re thrilled to announce the upcoming opening of our brand-new store, and we’re looking for enthusiastic Customer Service Assistants to join our team! We have up to 24 exciting opportunities available for friendly, motivated individuals who want to be part of something special right from day one.

Our new store will be based on a retail park - Unit 1, Fylands Drive, DL14 9AH

We have several contracts available to give you that work-life balance, these include, 8 hours, 16 hours, 20 hours, 24 hours and 32 hours per week, these are all permanent positions.

Please note that training/onboarding will be in Durham store - St Andrews Park, DH1 2RH

Shift Patterns:

Our store operates seven days a week, we have a variety of shifts including weekends. Typical shift patterns include:

Early: 7am - 4pm or Early: 10am - 2pm

Mid: 10am - 4pm

Late: 4pm - 8pm

The Role

No two days are the same. As a Customer Service Assistant, you’ll help keep the store running smoothly while delivering outstanding customer service. You’ll be involved in a variety of tasks, including:

• Welcoming and assisting customers
• Keeping shelves fully stocked and looking great
• Supporting with deliveries and replenishment
• Ensuring trolleys and baskets are available
• Helping maintain a clean, safe and organised store
• Operating the tills and providing a friendly checkout experience

Whatever you’re doing, your focus will always be on making every customer’s visit easy, enjoyable and memorable.

About You

We’re looking for friendly, reliable people who enjoy working as part of a team and take pride in delivering excellent customer service. You’ll ideally have experience in a retail or customer-facing role, but just as importantly, you’ll have:
