Customer Quality Engineer - Fabrication and Welding
Blandford Forum
If you’re a quality professional who enjoys solving problems rather than simply documenting them, this could be a good move.
You’ll have genuine influence over customer quality, continuous improvement and the wider quality culture across the site. There’s also scope to develop your technical and leadership skills through further training, including auditing and advanced quality tools.
You’ll receive a competitive salary, pension, holiday allowance and a role where your ideas can actually make their way off the whiteboard and into the factory. There’s also some flexibility around home working when required.
Our client is looking for an experienced Customer Quality Engineer to become a key link between its customers and manufacturing teams.
You’ll take ownership of customer complaints and corrective actions, using tools such as 8D, 5 Why and root cause analysis to get beyond the immediate problem and stop it coming back. You’ll also support customer audits, visits and quality reviews, while working closely with production and suppliers to resolve issues.
Alongside the day-to-day customer quality work, you’ll be involved in PPAP, APQP, PFMEA, Control Plans, process audits and continuous improvement, with a strong focus on reducing PPM, scrap, rework and the ever-unpopular Cost of Poor Quality.
We’re looking for someone with around 3+ years’ experience in a manufacturing quality environment, who is comfortable dealing directly with customers and confident leading investigations through to resolution.
You’ll ideally have experience with:
Experience in fabrication, welding, machining, forming or metal finishing would be useful, but isn’t essential.
Most importantly, you’ll be credible with customers, comfortable challenging issues when necessary, and someone who follows things through rather than declaring victory when the spreadsheet says "closed".
Working: Full-time, primarily site-based
Travel: Occasional customer/supplier visits
Flexibility: Some early/late support may be required, with home working available when needed
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
If you’re looking for a quality role where you can have a visible impact, influence how things are done and continue developing your career, we’d be interested in hearing from you.
