Job summary

Sainsbury's Group is seeking a Customer Delivery Driver to bring groceries to customers' doors with energy, warmth and care. You will operate a 3.5 tonne refrigerated van, ensuring on-time delivery and careful handling of orders, while maintaining vehicle checks and customer communication.

In this role, you will combine independent work with store team collaboration, adapt to varied routes and conditions, and learn to navigate our route and delivery technology to support a high-energy,

Qualifications

• Must be over 18 and hold a full UK driving licence for at least 12 months with no more than 6 points.
• Right to Work in the UK is required.
• Online driving risk assessment will be completed as part of the interview.
• If successful, there will be a driving assessment.
• Sainsbury's has installed in-cab AI cameras to monitor driver behaviour and support safety.

Responsibilities

• Be the face of Sainsbury's at every doorstep you deliver to, providing a thoughtful, friendly and helpful service.
• Drive a 3.5 tonne refrigerated van to deliver groceries to customers on time and in good condition.
• Complete checks to ensure the van is roadworthy, clean, and that customers' shopping is secure before setting off.
• Follow planned routes and drive safely in varying traffic, weather and road conditions.
• Move containers up to 15kg and deliver to properties that may include steps, lifts or longer walks from the van.
• Communicate clearly with customers, updating them on delays and handling any queries.
• When not delivering, assist across the store as needed.
• Be comfortable driving larger vehicles in busy streets, city centres and narrow country lanes.
• Learn to use route and delivery technology with confidence.
• Enjoy working independently and as part of the wider store team.
• Be flexible to work across the store and take on new challenges.
• Be open to learning and developing to improve our service.
• Confidently using delivery technology.
