Job summary

B&Q Newport IOW is hiring a Customer Advisor on a part-time 19-hour-per-week, 3-month fixed-term contract basis. The role includes shifts across Monday to Sunday, from 6:00am to 8:00pm.

The notional hourly rate is £13.10, with responsibilities spanning sales, stock management, displays setup and customer service. Training in paint-mixing and timber cutting is available, with a strong emphasis on excellent customer service.

Qualifications

• Willingness to learn new ways of working and adapt to a rota that includes weekends, evenings and bank holidays.

Responsibilities

• Becoming an expert advisor and building relationships with customers.
• Assist customers with home improvement projects and product recommendations.
• Drive sales while maintaining stock levels and merchandising displays.
• Set up and maintain attractive displays and ensure the store looks inviting.
• Opportunity to receive training in paint-mixing and timber cutting whilst prioritizing great customer service.

What's the job?

Join our team, and you’ll become an expert advisor. An inspiration as well as a guide. The person who gets to know every customer and their home improvement projects. Sales will be important, of course, as will things like managing stock, setting up displays, and making sure your store looks great. You’ll have the opportunity to be trained in paint-mixing and cutting timber, but truly great customer service will be your main aim.

Happy to help, eager to learn and just a little bit obsessed with home improvement, you’ll be right at home with us. You’re friendly and outgoing, and you get a buzz from helping others. You’ll be happy to expand your skills by using new technology and learning new ways of working. You’re great at working in a team too, and flexible enough to work on a rota that includes weekends, evenings and bank holidays.
