Job summary

Mitie Group plc. is seeking a certified nurse or paramedic to deliver healthcare within the Police custody system, ensuring detainee welfare and round-the-clock coverage in line with client schedules.

You must have RN/RGN or RMN with two years post-qualification (Band 5) or Paramedic with two years post-qualification, plus a driving licence and UK work eligibility. Overtime and a rolling rota are available, with part-time options in a fixed shift pattern.

Qualifications

• Post-qualification nursing or paramedic experience in a patient-facing role.
• Experience in high-pressure clinical settings (A&E, GP, Emergency Medicine, Prison Healthcare, Ambulance Service).
• Ability to deliver high-quality care under challenging circumstances.

Responsibilities

• Provide healthcare to detainees in custody suites.
• Contribute to 24/7 custody healthcare coverage as per client schedule.
• Work across base custody suite and assigned regional custody locations.

Applicants must have a minimum of two years' post-qualification experience in a patient-facing role within a relevant clinical setting. Suitable environments include Accident & Emergency (A&E), General Practice, Emergency Medicine, Acute Medicine, Prison Healthcare, or the Ambulance Service. This experience should demonstrate your ability to deliver high-quality care, work under pressure, and manage diverse clinical situations effectively.

You must have a Driving license

In collaboration with the Police, you'll serve in custody suites, delivering healthcare to detainees. We are dedicated to ensuring the safety of detainees with round-the-clock coverage in the custody suites, in line with a schedule agreed upon with our client.

The role requires the flexibility to work not only in your base Custody suite but across an assigned region in the Police Custody Suites and Force area

• Salary £20,750 per year
• £500 bonus when completed 12 months service.
• Part time - this entails fixed shift working: 06:45 to 19:00 for day shifts aworking in a team rota pattern.
• Rolling rota available 2 years in advance.

• These patterns are contractually agreed with the customer: whereas there may be opportunities for a part-time or mutually agreed "Bank" contract, we require all employees to work full shifts, and part-time employees still need to carry out some Night shifts.

• Average estimated overtime £3500 per annum

• NMC/HCPC Registration paid

Requirements

• RN, RGN or (RMN with dual registration):2 years post qualification - Band 5 minimum

• Paramedic 2 years post qualification.

• Must have RTW, Lived in UK British Passport or ILR for 3 years + no gaps out of country more than 3 months

• All candidates will be subject to Police Vetting
