Job summary

Mitie Group plc. is seeking a certified nurse or paramedic to deliver healthcare within police custody environments, providing round-the-clock care aligned with client schedules.

You will join a team focused on detainee wellbeing and safety, working across a defined regional footprint. The role requires 2 years post-qualification patient-facing experience in settings such as A&E, GP, Emergency Medicine, or Prison Healthcare, plus a valid UK driving license and active registration with NMC/HCPC.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years' post-qualification experience in a patient-facing role within a relevant clinical setting.
• Experience in A&E, General Practice, Emergency Medicine, Acute Medicine, Prison Healthcare, or the Ambulance Service.
• Must have Driving license.
• NMC/HCPC Registration paid by employer.

Responsibilities

• Deliver healthcare to detainees in custody suites.
• Provide 24/7 healthcare coverage in custody suites as scheduled with client.
• Work across base custody suite and assigned region.
• Operate within a rolling rota spanning day and night duties.

Suitable environments include Accident & Emergency (A&E), General Practice, Emergency Medicine, Acute Medicine, Prison Healthcare, or the Ambulance Service. This experience should demonstrate your ability to deliver high-quality care, work under pressure, and manage diverse clinical situations effectively.

You must have a Driving license

In collaboration with the Police, you'll serve in custody suites, delivering healthcare to detainees. We are dedicated to ensuring the safety of detainees with round-the-clock coverage in the custody suites, in line with a schedule agreed upon with our client.

The role requires the flexibility to work not only in your base Custody suite but across an assigned region in the Police Custody Suites and Force area

• Salary £20,750 per year
• £500 bonus when completed 12 months service.
• Part time - this entails fixed shift working: 06:45 to 19:00 for day shifts and night shifts of 18:45 to 07:00, working in a team rota pattern of 2-day shifts on, 8 days off, 2 nights, 4 days off. Rolling rota available 2 years in advance.

• These patterns are contractually agreed with the customer: whereas there may be opportunities for a part-time or mutually agreed “Bank” contract, we require all employees to work full shifts, and part-time employees still need to carry out some Night shifts.

• Average estimated overtime £3500 per annum

• NMC/HCPC Registration paid

Requirements:

• RN, RGN or (RMN with dual registration):2 years post qualification - Band 5 minimum

• Paramedic 2 years post qualification.

• Must have RTW, Lived in UK British Passport or ILR for 3 years + no gaps out of country more than 3 months

• All candidates will be subject to Police Vetting
