Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is seeking an experienced Advanced Nurse Practitioner for Police Custody Health Care in Glasgow. The role involves clinical triage, assessment, treatment and care planning for patients in police custody, with leadership across the forensic nursing team.

You will work within a multi-disciplinary team, provide expert clinical guidance to Police Scotland and COPFS, and lead practice development, audits and policy implementation.

Qualifications

• ANPs are educated at Masters Level in advanced practice and are assessed as competent in this level of practice.
• Registered Nurse on the NMC Register and Prescriber (V300).
• Masters level qualification enabling clinical assessment, reasoning and prescribing.

Responsibilities

• Triage and clinically assess patients, prioritise need and initiate treatment per guidelines.
• Take comprehensive history, assess and examine patients to meet care needs.
• Initiate investigations to improve access to treatment.
• Screen patients using clinical assessment, lab results and records.
• Initiate drug therapy within guidelines and non-medical prescriber rules.
• Lead clinical audit programmes and contribute to research for practice improvement.
