Job summary

V Selective Recruitment is seeking a Curriculum Manager for the 16-19 Study Programme in London. The role is 28 hours per week across four days, on-site and permanent, with a pro rata salary of £34,400 per annum.

You will lead, design and deliver the SDP curriculum, teach 12–14 hours weekly, and coach the SDP tutor while guiding challenging discussions on topics from politics to mental health to ensure an inclusive, current programme.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience designing or delivering personal development and PSHE programmes for young people.
• Proven ability to engage learners with sensitive and topical subject matter.
• Relevant degree or professional qualification.
• Level 2 English and Maths qualifications.

Curriculum Manager – 16-19 Study Programme

Salary: £34,400 per annum (pro rata of FTE £43,000)

Hours: 28 hours per week across 4 days (Permanent, Part-time, 52 weeks/year)

Location: London (On-site / Non-remote)

THE ROLE

The Self Development Programme (SDP) is a flagship component of the provider’s 16–19 Study Programme. Graded Outstanding for Personal Development by Ofsted, the curriculum extends beyond pass rates—shaping rounded, reflective young people who can navigate complex societal topics and build meaningful lives.

We are seeking an ambitious Curriculum Manager who will lead, innovate, and elevate this established curriculum. This isn’t a role for simply maintaining existing presentations; we need a creative, curious educational thinker who will protect strong foundations while taking the curriculum to the next level.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Curriculum Design & Leadership: Lead the ongoing design, development, and delivery of the SDP curriculum across the 16–19 Study Programme. Keep content live, topical, inclusive, and appropriately challenging using current affairs, learner voice, and external expertise.
• Teaching & Team Coaching: Teach directly for approximately 12–14 hours per week while managing and developing the SDP tutor.
• Facilitating Challenging Discussions: Safely guide young people through emotive and controversial topics (including politics, gender identity, relationships, sex and sexual health, mental health, citizenship, ethics, and climate change).
• Cross-Provision Support: Oversee SDP delivery and resources for subcontracted Study Programme provision and assist in developing the PSHE curriculum for the associated independent school.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Essential Qualifications & Experience

• Substantial experience designing or delivering personal development, PSHE, or related educational programmes for young people
• Track record of engaging learners with complex, sensitive, and topical subject matter.
• Relevant degree or professional qualification.
• Level 2 qualifications in English and Maths.
• Proven capability in managing subject areas like relationships, mental health, diversity, inclusion, and careers education.
