Job summary

HSB Technical Ltd is recruiting a CTV Marine Engineer for onboard duties on a 4 On 4 Off shift, with a 28 day rotation in the UK. The role focuses on troubleshooting, maintenance and ensuring vessel safety and regulatory compliance.

You will work with the crew to keep ship systems running efficiently and trains newer staff as needed. The ideal candidate will have 1-2 years in a similar role, strong mechanical ability, basic electrical knowledge and current STCW certifications including ENG1,

Qualifications

• Must have strong mechanical knowledge.
• Basic electrical knowledge required.
• All STCW certifications must be current, including ENG1.
• AEC 1 and AEC 2 certifications are required.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and resolve technical issues promptly to minimize downtime.
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on mechanical and basic electrical systems.
• Keep accurate records of maintenance, repairs and logs.
• Monitor engine performance and other mechanical systems.
• Ensure compliance with maritime regulations and safety standards.
• Collaborate with crew and assist training of less experienced staff.
• Participate in regular inspection and servicing of equipment onboard.
• Carry out duties in accordance with STCW and company policies.

Typically, this person will be responsible for overseeing the engineering duties onboard, providing troubleshooting support, and ensuring the vessel operates efficiently while maintaining compliance with all safety standards.

Duties and responsibilities of the CTV Marine Engineer (Onboard):

• Diagnose and resolve technical issues promptly to ensure minimal downtime of vessel systems
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on mechanical and basic electrical systems
• Keep accurate records of all maintenance, repairs, and operational logs
• Monitor the performance of engines and other mechanical systems
• Ensure compliance with all relevant maritime regulations and safety standards
• Work effectively with other crew members and assist with the training of less experienced staff
• Participate in the regular inspection and servicing of equipment onboard
• Carry out all duties in accordance with STCW regulations and company policies

Qualifications and requirements for the CTV Marine Engineer (Onboard):

• British / Right to Work in the UK
• 1-2 years experience in a similar role
• Strong mechanical knowledge and experience
• Basic electrical knowledge
• All STCW certifications to be in date, including ENG1
• AEC 1 and AEC 2
