Carnival UK is recruiting a Safety Officer to lead safety on board, reporting as the most senior deck officer after the Staff Captain. You will investigate major incidents and manage the Deck Crew, ensuring readiness of emergency equipment and the shipboard emergency response organisation.

The role requires a Master’s Unlimited (II/2) certificate, prior Safety Officer rank experience, and strong knowledge of cruise ship operations and health-and-safety regulations.

Qualifications

• Master’s Unlimited (II/2) certificate with no limitations.
• Experience in rank as Safety Officer on board.
• Strong knowledge of cruise ship operations.
• In-depth knowledge of health and safety rules and regulations.
• Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
• Experience on board a cruise ship is essential.

Responsabilités

• Acting as the most senior deck officer after the Staff Captain.
• Investigating all major and serious accidents and incidents.
• Managing a small team of Deck Crew, leading day-to-day planned maintenance of safety and emergency equipment.
• Maintaining oversight of the shipboard emergency response organisation.
• Ensuring all key emergency response positions are covered by suitably trained and certificated personnel.
• Remaining fully competent as a watch keeping Officer.
• Supplementing the Bridge watch and taking the charge as needed.
