Qualifications

• Competency in Critical Care Band 5 to provide specialist treatments and monitoring unique to critical care.
• Maintain registration with the NMC and comply with statutory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assess care needs and develop, implement and evaluate care of critically ill patients.
• Provide an integrated critical care service.
• Plan, implement and evaluate individual patient care for a duty period and ensure accurate record-keeping.
• Communicate effectively with patients and families, maintaining confidentiality.
• Support relatives and arrange meetings with consultants as required.
• Collaborate with MDT professionals (Physiotherapy, Pharmacy, Dietetics) to meet patient needs.
• Arrange admissions and discharges and organise transport for off-unit procedures (e.g., CT Scan).
• Ensure appropriate use of resources and respond to complaints per Trust policy.
