Job summary

TipTopJob is seeking a Criminal Duty Solicitor with 1+ PQE to join our West Yorkshire team. You will represent clients at police stations, advise throughout the criminal justice process, and manage a varied caseload in a high-quality practice.

The role offers exposure to publicly funded work, strong advocacy opportunities, and supportive supervision with mentoring. A competitive salary circa £47,000 DOE, pension, healthcare, 23 days' annual leave plus bank holidays, and a firm issued laptop.

Qualifications

• Qualified Solicitor with 1+ years PQE in criminal law.
• Experience in publicly funded criminal defence.
• Strong advocacy and IT skills.

Responsibilities

• Represent clients detained at police stations and provide advice throughout the criminal justice process.
• Manage a varied caseload covering the full spectrum of criminal offences.
• Conduct advocacy in the Magistrates Court, including summary trials.

Overview

• Duty Solicitor accreditation is preferred but not essential, with support available to achieve accreditation.
• Strong advocacy, communication and IT skills are essential.
• Confident using case management systems and able to manage a demanding caseload with minimal supervision.
• Pragmatic, professional and positive approach with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure, meet tight deadlines and contribute positively to a collaborative team.
