G2legal is recruiting a Criminal Duty Solicitor to join a busy Criminal Defence department in Telford. The role suits a Newly Qualified Solicitor or above with Duty Solicitor Accreditation, working alongside experienced criminal defence practitioners on a varied caseload.

You will handle representation from police stations through Magistrates' and Crown Court proceedings, with opportunities for advocacy and career development within a supportive, growing team.

Qualifications

• Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales (NQ+ PQE).
• Duty Solicitor status preferred, though applications from solicitors working toward accreditation will be considered.
• Solid understanding of criminal law and procedure.
• Experience representing clients at police stations and court hearings.
• Strong advocacy, communication and client care skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of criminal defence matters from instruction to conclusion.
• Provide representation at police stations, Magistrates' Courts and Crown Courts.
• Attend clients in custody and provide advice during interviews under caution.
• Prepare cases for trial, including reviewing evidence and drafting legal documents.
• Conduct advocacy where appropriate.
• Liaise with clients, counsel, courts, police, CPS and other agencies.
• Ensure compliance with Legal Aid Agency requirements and firm procedures.
• Maintain accurate case records and billing information.

Criminal Duty Solicitor – Telford

An established and well-respected law firm is seeking a Criminal Duty Solicitor to join its busy and growing Criminal Defence department. This opportunity is suitable for a Newly Qualified Solicitor upwards who holds the Duty Solicitor Accreditation.

You will work alongside experienced criminal defence practitioners, handling a varied caseload of criminal matters from police station representation through to Magistrates' and Crown Court proceedings.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of criminal defence matters from instruction to conclusion


• Provide representation at police stations, Magistrates' Courts and Crown Courts


• Attend clients in custody and provide advice during interviews under caution


• Prepare cases for trial, including reviewing evidence and drafting legal documents

Candidate Requirements
