Events & Operations | Full-time

Are you an experienced people leader from the events or crewing industry? Our client, a major player in live events and production support, is looking for a proactive Crew Manager to join their London Operations Team. This is a fantastic opportunity to step into a fast-paced environment where you’ll drive team development, uphold standards, and ensure exceptional service delivery on every project.

The Role

As Crew Manager, you’ll be responsible for leading, developing, and supporting a diverse crew workforce, ensuring that every job is staffed with reliable, skilled professionals. Acting as the key link between office operations and on-site activity, you will mentor crew chiefs, manage performance, and maintain the highest levels of professionalism across all teams.

You’ll also play an active role in client relationships, training, scheduling support, and broader operational initiatives that contribute to the long‑term success of the business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Crew Leadership & Development
    • Oversee onboarding of new crew members and ensure adherence to company procedures.
    • Foster a positive culture and act as a trusted point of contact for crew issues.
    • Hold regular crew chief meetings, ensuring communication, feedback, and development remain top priorities.
    • Monitor performance, attendance, uniform standards, and resolve issues confidentially.
    • Support staff allocation alongside the scheduling and bookings team.
    • Work with recruitment to ensure all new starters are properly inducted.
  • Training & Performance Management
    • Monitor and act on feedback from crew chiefs.
    • Identify future crew chiefs and support internal progression pathways.
    • Manage appraisals, disciplinaries, and performance conversations.
    • Identify training needs and coordinate relevant courses (e.g., FLT, CSCS, working at height).
  • On‑Site & Client Engagement
    • Conduct regular site visits to build client relationships and ensure service standards are being met.
    • Produce written site visit reports via the CRM system.
    • Step into a crew boss role on key projects when required.
  • Wider Operational Responsibilities
    • Represent the company at meetings, exhibitions, networking events, and industry training.
    • Support business development and relationship management.
    • Contribute to long‑term planning and operational strategy.
    • Provide occasional support to international offices (project dependent, minimum 1 month notice in advance).
    • Participate in a 24 / 7 out‑of‑hours rota (4‑week rotation including evenings and weekends).
Skills & Experience
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in events, ideally within the crewing sector.
  • Approachable, trustworthy, and respected by teams.
  • Highly organised with strong multitasking capabilities.
  • Calm under pressure with the ability to motivate teams in challenging environments.
  • Confident communicator with strong MS Office skills.
  • Self‑motivated, adaptable, and proactive.
  • Strong team player.
  • Full UK Driving Licence required.
