Job summary

Citibank, N.A. United Kingdom is seeking a Credit Officer to support underwriting of commercial credit extensions and lead detailed credit analyses for new and existing clients.

You will ensure compliance with internal risk policies and deliver sound recommendations based on financial data and market research. The role requires strong analytical skills, knowledge of accounting principles, and the ability to communicate complex findings clearly to stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Proven analytical skills including ability to understand and assess financial statements, cash flow, industry analysis and projections.
• Knowledge of intermediate accounting theory and its application in credit underwriting.
• Excellent organizational skills, prioritization, attention to detail, and meeting deadlines in fast-paced environment.
• Effective interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
• Problem recognition and resolution abilities.
• Ability to work autonomously and in a team; proficient with Excel/Word and financial analysis tools.

Responsibilities

• Interface with originators and bankers in underwriting requests for commercial credit extensions.
• Prepare a detailed written credit summary after analyzing business needs and risks.
• Perform detailed financial analysis on companies, including trend and ratio analysis.
• Conduct credit and personal financial statement analysis on obligors, guarantors, and co-borrowers.
• Carry out industry and geographical research and other due diligence as needed.
• Maintain an understanding of Citibank products and regulatory policies to ensure compliance.
• Identify process improvements to reduce costs and improve customer service; work with management on action plans.
• Provide backup support to Credit Underwriting Group Manager and mentor junior officers.
• Assist with ad hoc duties to support unit goals.
• Assess risk in business decisions, safeguarding Citigroup and clients by ensuring compliance with laws and regulations.
