Job summary

Monzo is seeking a Credit Model Validation Manager to lead independent validation across our lending model portfolio, spanning impairment, capital and stress testing. You will challenge model assumptions, drive governance and embed robust validation practices across the organisation.

The role requires hands-on validation experience in financial services, strong SQL/Python skills, and the ability to communicate complex findings clearly to stakeholders. Remote work within the UK is supported.

Qualifications

• Strong background in credit model development and/or validation across a range of model types.
• Experience with IFRS 9 impairment, IRB or other capital models.
• Proficiency in SQL and Python; ability to write reusable, tested code.

Responsibilities

• Lead independent validation across Monzo’s credit model portfolio, covering IFRS 9 impairment, capital and stress testing.
• Review key model-led credit risk assessments, including impairment adequacy, ICAAP, and stress testing.
• Develop deep understanding of Monzo’s credit models and provide impactful input to developers and users.
• Build reusable analytical tools and tests; explore AI-assisted approaches with safe adoption.
• Monitor model performance against risk thresholds and support first line of defence when action is needed.
• Write clear model validation reports and present findings in committees.
