An exciting opportunity, with significant scope for career development, in a unique and rapidly expanding real estate company. The role will be working alongside the residential, commercial and legal teams in recovering rent arrears across our diverse portfolio.

This opportunity is unique, the job is varied and provides good levels of autonomy and support. We are seeking an exceptional candidate who will develop, deliver and refine our credit control strategy.

The company has a pipeline of approximately 4,000 residential apartments and is acquiring further commercial assets. This extensive growth presents significant career development opportunities.

Job Overview:

The primary responsibility of this role is to recover rental arrears promptly and ensure that all measures are taken to resolve cases before instructing legal proceedings. A proactive approach in the early stages, will achieve the optimum results before debt levels become unmanageable. Unfortunately, there will be cases that require legal action to regain possession and recover outstanding debt, the referral to and follow up with legal teams will also form part of this remit.

Key Responsibilities:

• Leadership: supervise and lead the existing credit control team member, ensuring efficient and high-quality service delivery.
• External: manage and complement external commercial PM in recovering arrears.
• Recruit: expand team to improve credit control outcomes.
• Reporting: extract debt reports from our ERP system and reformat into manageable trackers that teams can work with.
• Processes: draw up and refine processes for credit controllers to follow.
• Negotiation: work with debtors to agree payment plans and / or settlements.
• Updates: provide weekly updates to owners, managers and operational teams.
• Collaboration: work with, operational, onsite and legal teams to resolve cases promptly. Documentation: keep comprehensive records of interactions with debtors and ensure necessary documentation is available to initiate legal action where necessary.
• Historic debt: determine and enact a strategy to recover historic debt across the portfolios. Prevent: contribute to credit checking strategy to reduce debt occurrences.

Requirements:

• A confident and outspoken person who is firm and able to resolve disputes effectively.
• Substantial experience in a senior level credit control role.
• Competent is residential credit control, experience of commercial real estate would also be advantageous but not essential.
• Exceptional organizational and leadership skills, with experience managing teams and external partners.
• Proficiency in using ERP systems and reporting using excel.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with stakeholders.
