Are you a detail-driven finance professional with a knack for keeping cash flow healthy and customer relationships strong? The National College is looking for a Credit Controller to join our Finance team at our Sheffield office on a hybrid basis.

In this exciting role, you’ll be at the heart of our accounts receivable function – ensuring timely payments, resolving queries, and keeping customer accounts running smoothly. Your work will directly contribute to our mission of empowering education workforces.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience: At least 2 years in a credit control role, ideally with high-volume outbound contact. Customer service/admin experience is a plus.
• Skills: Confident, personable, and professional. Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel), Teams, and accounting software. Strong time management, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills are a must.
• Qualifications: GCSEs (Grade C or above) in English and Maths. AAT or similar accounting qualifications (or working towards one) are beneficial, but not essential.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Taking full ownership of assigned customer accounts, ensuring timely payment and accurate record-keeping.
• Allocating payments, remittances, and purchase order numbers efficiently.
• Proactively following up on overdue accounts through calls, emails, and letters.
• Handling invoice queries, short payments, and issuing refunds where required.
• Producing regular reports on aged debt, risk, and collections performance.
• Supporting the Credit Control Manager with admin and ad hoc tasks as needed.
