Job summary

Hireful in Ripon is seeking an experienced Credit Controller to join the credit control team. You’ll manage your own customer base, keep cash flowing and build relationships that promote proactive collections.

The role involves opening accounts, chasing payments, resolving invoice queries, and managing repayment plans with a focus on accuracy and compliance.

Qualifications

• Experience in credit control or cash collection in a sales-driven business.
• Strong MS Office skills, especially Excel, and experience with finance/accounting systems.
• Excellent telephone manner with negotiation and escalation skills.
• Systematic, organised approach with high attention to detail.
• MICM qualification or equivalent experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Open new accounts and manage day-to-day running of your own customer ledger.
• Chase due and overdue payments by phone, letters and statements to reduce aged debt.
• Resolve invoice queries with customers and colleagues across the business.
• Agree and manage repayment plans and credit limits within your authority.
• Keep customer records accurate and up to date, ensuring collection and payment processes are followed.
• Escalate accounts as needed to the Credit Control Manager or third-party collections.

A well-established and growing business with a strong regional reputation and a friendly team is looking for an experienced Credit Controller to join its credit control team. You ll manage your own customer base, keep cash flowing, and build the kind of relationships that make collecting payment a conversation rather than a confrontation.

Location: Ripon, North Yorkshire, commutable from Harrogate, Knaresborough, Thirsk, Boroughbridge, Bedale and surrounding areas.

What you'll be doing

• Opening new accounts and managing the day-to-day running of your own customer ledger
• Chasing due and overdue payments by phone, letter and statement, helping to reduce aged debt
• Resolving invoice queries with customers and colleagues across the business
• Agreeing and managing repayment plans, and managing credit limits within your authority
• Keeping customer records accurate and up to date, ensuring collection, reconciliation and payment processes are followed
