Job summary

Capital-Law-1 is seeking an experienced credit controller to join the busy Finance team in Cardiff. The role focuses on maintaining an effective credit control function, building relationships with colleagues and clients, and supporting cash collection targets.

Key duties include chasing overdue invoices, keeping records up to date, responding to queries, and generating reports. Hybrid working is offered, with office presence in Cardiff for collaboration and stakeholder engagement.

Qualifications

  • 2–3 years of credit control experience.
  • Confident, professional and assertive.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Accurate, efficient and organised with prioritisation ability.
  • Experience in legal/professional services is beneficial.

Responsibilities

About The Role

We have a great opportunity for an experienced individual to join our busy Finance team, to help maintain an effective and professional credit control function. The role involves building strong relationships with our colleagues and clients to ensure the best possible service is provided.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities:
  • Chase overdue invoices by telephone, e-mail, or letter within agreed timescales.
  • Communicate in a professional manner with various stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate records relating to the recovery of invoices within the Credit control database/Practice Management System.
  • Respond promptly and comprehensively to both client and internal queries.
  • Prepare ad hoc reports and reconciliations as required.
  • Monitor the delivery of invoices and discuss any trends with the Credit Manager.
  • Check account status and send monthly statements.
  • Ensure an effective communication with the Credit Manager to raise any potential opportunities or problem debts; report on the effect this has on the cash collection targets.
  • Attend internal meetings to discuss debt with the legal teams, as required.
  • Assist Finance to resolve client balances.
Key Competencies:
  • 2-3 years experience in credit control is required.
  • Confident, professional, and assertive.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Accurate, efficient, and organised, with ability to prioritise tasks as needed.
  • Honest and trustworthy.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft packages, specifically Excel).
  • Experience of legal / professional services industry is beneficial.
