Job summary

Michael Page Blackburn is seeking a Credit Control Team Leader to oversee day-to-day credit control operations, ensuring outstanding debts are managed and customer accounts stay within agreed terms.

You will lead and develop a team of credit controllers, monitor aged debt, set KPIs, and work with sales and finance to resolve queries and protect cash flow. This is a hybrid role with 3 days in the office and 2 days at home.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in credit control, ideally at a senior or supervisory level.
  • Experience managing, mentoring or developing a team.
  • Strong knowledge of credit control and debt collection processes.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Leading, motivating and developing the credit control team.
  • Managing the day-to-day credit control function.
  • Monitoring aged debt and ensuring outstanding balances are actively pursued.
  • Setting and monitoring team KPIs and performance targets.
  • Reviewing customer accounts and credit limits.
  • Handling escalated customer queries and complex debt issues.
  • Working closely with sales, finance and other departments to resolve account queries.
  • Producing regular aged debt and performance reports.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve credit control processes and procedures.
  • Supporting cash collection and maintaining strong cash flow.
  • Ensuring appropriate credit control procedures and controls are followed.
  • Providing regular updates and reporting to senior management.

Location: Blackburn
Salary: Up to 35,000 per annum
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Working Pattern: Hybrid - 3 days in office, 2 days WFH

Client Details

As Credit Control Team Leader, you'll be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day credit control operation, ensuring outstanding debts are managed effectively and customer accounts are kept within agreed terms.

You’ll lead and support a team of credit controllers, monitor performance and work closely with internal departments and customers to resolve queries and minimise overdue debt.

Profile

A successful Credit Control Team Leader will have:

  • Previous experience in credit control, ideally at a senior or supervisory level - essential
  • Experience managing, mentoring or developing a team
  • Strong knowledge of credit control and debt collection processes
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • A confident and professional approach when dealing with customers
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
  • The ability to analyse aged debt and identify areas requiring action
  • Good Excel skills
  • A proactive approach with the ability to work independently and as part of a wider finance team
