Job summary

THX Ltd is seeking a Credit Control Specialist to protect the financial health of a growing business. You will own a ledger, interact with contractor clients to keep payments on track, and contribute to risk decisions including liaising with insurers and solicitors.

This role goes beyond pure collections, with input into process improvements and risk exposure. You’ll manage invoicing, chase overdue accounts, negotiate plans, and maintain precise records.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in credit control or accounts receivable.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel; Sage 50 experience is a plus.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proactive and adaptable; able to challenge processes constructively.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Discreet and trustworthy with sensitive information.

Responsibilities

• Process sales invoices and issue monthly statements.
• Chase overdue accounts by phone and email and resolve queries.
• Reduce debtor days and overdue percentages against targets.
• Negotiate payment plans and, where necessary, progress legal proceedings.
• Maintain accurate records of customer contact, credit reports, and limits.
• Post and allocate customer receipts.
• Manage legal cases in liaison with insurers and solicitors.
• Build strong relationships with THX customers.
• Flag risk and process issues to the Financial Controller.

Job description

THX UK is a leading tool and equipment hire company serving specialist contractors in the fit-out sector, known for proactive fleet renewal, real-time service transparency, and industry-leading customer satisfaction across major cities in England.

We’re looking for a Credit Control Specialist to help protect the financial health of a growing business. You'll take ownership of a ledger, work directly with contractor clients to keep payments on track, and play a genuine role in credit risk decisions — including liaising with insurers and solicitors on legal cases. This isn’t a purely transactional collections role: you'll have real input into process improvement and risk exposure across the business.

What you’ll be doing

• Processing sales invoices and issuing monthly statements
• Proactively identifying and chasing overdue accounts by phone and email, resolving queries directly with customers and internal colleagues
• Reducing debtor days and overdue account percentages against agreed targets
• Negotiating payment plans and, where necessary, progressing legal proceedings
• Maintaining accurate records of customer contact, credit reports, and credit limits
• Posting and allocating customer receipts
• Managing legal cases in liaison with insurers and solicitors
• Building strong, constructive relationships with THX customers
• Flagging risk and process issues directly to the Financial Controller

What you’ll bring

• Proven experience in a credit control or accounts receivable role
• Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
• Confidence with Microsoft Excel and accounting systems (Sage 50 experience a plus)
• Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• A proactive, adaptable approach — happy to challenge existing processes constructively and suggest better ways of working
