Job summary

The Collective Network Limited in Peterborough is seeking a confident Finance Assistant / Credit Controller to support a busy finance team. The role covers accounts receivable, credit control and general transactional finance, ensuring queries are handled promptly and payments are collected.

You will work closely with the finance team to chase invoices, review payment histories and assist with credit assessments in a fast-paced environment.

Temporary Credit Controller / Finance Assistant

The Role

We are looking for a confident, customer-focused Finance Assistant / Credit Controller to support a busy finance team experiencing increased workloads and operational backlogs.

Working closely with the existing finance team, you will provide support across accounts receivable, credit control and general transactional finance, ensuring customer queries are handled efficiently and outstanding payments are collected.

Key Responsibilities

• Handle customer queries via telephone and email.
• Chase outstanding invoices and manage debt collection.
• Support cash allocation and invoicing activities.
• Resolve customer account and payment queries.
• Review customer payment histories and credit reports.
• Assist with credit-limit assessments and credit-risk decisions.

Candidate Requirements

• Previous credit control, accounts receivable or customer service experience.
• Confident communicator with a strong telephone manner.
• Comfortable chasing payments and handling customer queries.
• Organised, proactive and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Flexible approach with the ability to support across different finance activities.

Key consideration: Strong customer service and communication skills are more important than extensive technical finance experience. B2B/B2C customer service candidates with the right attitude will also be considered.
