The Collective Network Limited is seeking a confident Finance Assistant / Credit Controller to support a busy finance team in Peterborough. The role focuses on customer queries, debt collection, invoicing and cash allocation in a fast-paced environment.

Strong communication skills and previous experience in credit control or AR are highly valued. The position is temporary, ideally until Christmas, with a focus on delivering reliable transactional finance support across AR and AP.

Temporary Credit Controller / Finance Assistant

The Role

We are looking for a confident, customer-focused Finance Assistant / Credit Controller to support a busy finance team experiencing increased workloads and operational backlogs.

Key Responsibilities

• Handle customer queries via telephone and email.
• Chase outstanding invoices and manage debt collection.
• Support cash allocation and invoicing activities.
• Resolve customer account and payment queries.
• Review customer payment histories and credit reports.
• Assist with credit-limit assessments and credit-risk decisions.
• Liaise with internal teams and Business Development Managers.
• Provide general transactional finance support across AR and AP where required.

Candidate Requirements

• Previous credit control, accounts receivable or customer service experience.
• Confident communicator with a strong telephone manner.
• Comfortable chasing payments and handling customer queries.
• Organised, proactive and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Flexible approach with the ability to support across different finance activities.

Key consideration: Strong customer service and communication skills are more important than extensive technical finance experience. B2B/B2C customer service candidates with the right attitude will also be considered
