Job summary

Government Facility Services Ltd is recruiting for a CRED Supervisor at HMP The Mount, Bovingdon, Hemel Hempstead. The role involves working with experienced colleagues to support maintenance across the prison estate, mentoring team members and coordinating maintenance activities to ensure safe operation.

You will lead by example, promote fair treatment and rehabilitation opportunities for inmates where appropriate, and collaborate with colleagues to overcome challenges.

Qualifications

• Understanding of prisons and prisoner working systems, or willingness to learn (Desirable).
• Experience using tools and equipment to complete small‑scale refurbishments (Essential).
• Knowledge of health and safety principles and the ability to apply them in practice (Essential).
• Experience managing small‑scale refurbishments and projects (Essential).
• Experience supervising staff (Essential).
• Self‑motivated with a positive “can do” approach (Desirable).
• Experience managing relationships with various stakeholders (Desirable).
• Trade or building qualification in carpentry, painting and decorating, plumbing or electrics (Desirable); demonstrable experience also acceptable (Essential).

Responsibilities

• Work alongside experienced and passionate colleagues across various trades to support maintenance of the prison estate.
• Mentor and lead other members of the team, providing guidance and a supportive environment.
• Advocate for fair treatment and opportunities for all, ensuring rehabilitation projects give prisoners the chance to undertake maintenance work.
• Collaborate with colleagues to achieve objectives and overcome challenges.
• Support the smooth and safe operation of the prison by coordinating maintenance activities across the estate.
