Job summary

Protocol Education is seeking passionate and resilient SEN Teaching Assistants to support students with PMLD in Kingston-based primary and secondary schools. You will work closely with teachers and therapists to create a nurturing and stimulating environment tailored to each child’s individual needs.

Responsibilities include 1:1 and small group support, assisting with personal care and mobility, supporting sensory-based learning, promoting independence, and collaborating with SENCOs, speech

Qualifications

  • Experience working with PMLD or complex needs.
  • Understanding of SEN strategies and communication tools (e.g., PECS, Makaton, sensory integration).
  • Willingness to complete DBS checks and safeguarding training.
  • Enhanced DBS on update service is desirable.

Job description

We are seeking passionate and resilient SEN Teaching Assistants to support students with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) in Kingston- based Primary and Secondary schools. You will work closely with teachers and therapists to create a nurturing and stimulating environment tailored to each child’s individual needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with ASD /PMLD
  • Assist with personal care and mobility needs
  • Support sensory-based learning and therapeutic activities
  • Promote independence and emotional well-being
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including SENCOs, speech therapists, and physiotherapists
  • Ensure safeguarding and uphold school policies
Requirements
  • Experience working with children or young people with PMLD or complex needs
  • Understanding of SEN strategies and communication tools (e.g., PECS, Makaton, sensory integration)
  • Patience, empathy, and a proactive attitude
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one through us )
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, Team Teach, Moving & Handling) are desirable but not mandatory
