Qualifications

• A qualified Music Teacher with the ability to teach across KS3 and KS4.
• QTS, a PGCE or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Strong subject knowledge in Music, including practical and theoretical elements.
• The ability to plan creative, differentiated lessons that engage students of varying abilities.
• Effective classroom management and a commitment to high expectations.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• A genuine passion for music education and student development.
• A willingness to contribute to enrichment activities and collaborative departmental work.
• The legal right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Teaching Music across KS3 and KS4, following the school's curriculum and relevant examination specifications.
• Planning engaging lessons covering performance, composition, listening, musical theory and the study of different musical styles.
• Developing students' understanding of rhythm, melody, harmony, notation and musical structure.
• Providing opportunities for students to use instruments, technology and other resources to develop practical musical skills.
• Supporting students in preparing compositions, performances and assessed coursework where applicable.
• Differentiating lessons to support students with different abilities, interests and learning needs.
• Assessing student progress regularly and providing constructive feedback to improve musical understanding and performance.
• Maintaining high standards of classroom behaviour and promoting a respectful, inclusive learning environment.
• Working collaboratively with colleagues to review curriculum delivery and share effective teaching resources.
• Encouraging participation in extracurricular music activities and contributing to the wider life of the school where appropriate.
