Job summary

Pathway Trust’s Cherry Garden Primary School is seeking a Play Assistant (Unqualified) to join our after-school club from 3pm to 6pm, Monday to Thursday. The role is fixed term until 31 August 2027, paying £13.07 per hour, with safeguarding, CPD and a supportive school community.

You’ll help deliver safe, inclusive play for children aged 4–11, including 1:1 support when needed. We value motivated, creative team players and offer access to health schemes and pension, with opportunities for

Qualifications

• Self-motivated and able to engage with children positively.
• Understanding of issues involved in delivering quality play care.
• Experience in providing and facilitating safe and creative play.
• Good communication skills and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe activities with groups of children from all class ranges.
• Engage with children encouraging them to participate in activities to promote learning and social development.
• Support children on a 1:1 basis who have complex needs (if required).
• Encourage fair and caring behaviour among the children.
• Encourage independence and self-esteem.
• Ensure safety and safeguarding procedures are adhered to to keep children safe.
• Assist with food preparation for serving breakfast and afterschool snacks.
