Job summary

European Tech Recruit is seeking a senior CPU Hardware Architect for our Cambridge-based R&D partner. You will help define CPU architectures, interfaces between hardware, firmware and OS, and work with engineering teams to translate product requirements into practical solutions.

Cutting-edge work includes CPU core architectures, ISA interfaces, and hardware/software co-design. 5+ years of relevant experience and strong C/C++/Python skills are expected.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of CPU architecture or microarchitecture experience.
• Strong ISA knowledge and assembly language skills.
• Experience with Arm, RISC-V and/or MIPS architectures.
• Deep understanding of modern CPU core microarchitecture.
• Proficient in C, C++, assembly and/or Python.
• Experience modelling microprocessors in C/C++.
• Experience with AVX vector extensions.
• Knowledge of Arm SVE.
• Knowledge of Arm SME.
• Experience with Confidential Compute Architecture (CCA).

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the definition and development of next-generation CPU architectures.
• Define interfaces between CPU hardware, firmware and operating systems.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to develop architectural specifications.
• Translate requirements into practical architecture solutions for CPUs.
• Support processor architecture modelling, analysis and evaluation.
• Contribute to hardware/software co-design and optimisation activities.
• Analyse architectural requirements and assess implementation options.
• Collaborate with distributed teams across architecture and development functions.
• Support development and evaluation of modern CPU core architectures.
