We are currently seeking resilient, proactive Part-Time Cover Supervisors to provide flexible daily and ad-hoc cover at a well-regarded secondary academy in Blackpool.
This role is perfect if you want to work between 1 to 4 days per week on your own terms. As a Cover Supervisor, you will step into Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 classrooms to manage pre-set lessons in the absence of the regular class teacher. Because all lesson content is planned in advance, there is no planning, marking, or post-school administration required-allowing you to focus entirely on effective classroom delivery and pupil engagement.
Whether you are an experienced cover supervisor, a sports coach, a former youth worker, or a graduate building secondary experience, this role offers fantastic flexibility and valuable classroom exposure.
Take charge of Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 classes, ensuring pre-planned lesson activities are explained and completed efficiently.
Maintain high standards of classroom discipline by applying the academy's behaviour framework consistently and encouraging positive student effort.
Circulate the room to keep pupils focused, on task, and working safely.
Leave comprehensive feedback notes for returning staff regarding lesson progress, attendance, and notable student achievements or issues.
Uphold strict safeguarding procedures and promote pupil welfare across all activities.
Confident in setting clear boundaries, commanding respect, and managing challenging behaviour firmly but fairly.
Able to transition smoothly between different academic departments and age groups at short notice.
Skilled at building fast, positive rapport with secondary-aged pupils and school staff.
Able to handle unexpected classroom situations with a calm, level-headed approach.
Prior experience supervising, mentoring, or leading groups of young people aged 11-16 (e.g. as a Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, Youth Worker, Sports Coach, or Care Worker).
An enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for a new one through Randstad Education).
Full legal right to work within the UK.
Weekly pay processed transparently through PAYE.
Direct guidance from Kirsty Booth, a former primary teacher who understands the daily realities of school cover.
Earn £300 in REX Vouchers every time you refer an educator who works with us!
Access to free online professional development modules to sharpen your classroom management skills.
Complete control over your weekly working availability.
