Job summary

Lift Ryde on the Isle of Wight is seeking a proactive Cover Supervisor to maintain educational continuity across subjects during teacher absences. You will be a familiar, trusted adult in the classroom, supporting learning and helping students stay on task throughout lessons.

As part of Lift Schools, you will contribute to a calm and focused environment, assist with SEND needs, and help ensure high standards of behaviour and progress across year groups.

Qualifications

• GCSEs in Maths and English (Grade 4 or equivalent)
• Experience working with children or young people
• Ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues

Responsibilities

• Guide lessons using materials prepared by teachers, helping students understand tasks and complete work to the best of their ability
• Support students with special educational needs, working closely with the SENDCO and form tutors
• Create a positive learning environment, using strategies like rewards and clear boundaries to help manage behaviour
• Collect completed work and share feedback with teachers on how students got on
• Support students during breaks and lunchtimes, helping them stay safe and behave well

This is an exciting Cover Supervisor opportunity to join a dynamic team in a strong and supportive environment at Lift Ryde.

Your new school

Lift Ryde, based on the Isle of Wight, is an 11 to 18 years secondary school and is part of Lift Schools, one of the largest MATs in the country. The school is set in spacious grounds and had a completely new state of the art building in 2017. All staff have access to a free on site gym with a range of fantastic equipment. Known as the “Garden Isle” because of its beautiful landscape, unspoilt beaches, rugged coastline and beautiful countryside. Your new role

The role of the Cover Supervisor is pivotal in maintaining educational continuity within the academy, as a familiar and trusted adult to students. The role will cover classes during both planned and unplanned teacher absences, providing essential support across all subjects, ensuring students' learning progresses uninterrupted. By ensuring the classroom is a calm and focused environment, they contribute significantly to student achievement and advancement.

We are looking for someone who

You'll have GCSEs in Maths and English (Grade 4 or equivalent) and experience working with children or young people. Can you build positive relationships with students and communicate clearly with colleagues and families?

You'll be adaptable, patient and calm under pressure. You'll understand how to manage whole-class behaviour and support individual needs. Can you handle last-minute changes with flexibility and a sense of care? Do you bring empathy, resilience and a genuine interest in helping students succeed?
