Job summary

Tottington High School in Bury is seeking an experienced Cover Supervisor with an IT focus to join on a full-time, long-term basis. The role will mainly deliver and supervise IT lessons when the class teacher is absent, with flexibility to cover other subjects as needed.

The successful candidate should bring strong classroom management, excellent communication, and a genuine interest in Information Technology, with a view to future teacher training within IT.

Qualifications

Tottington High School is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a strong interest in Information Technology who may be considering a future career in teaching, particularly within IT.

The successful candidate will primarily deliver and supervise IT lessons, ensuring students remain engaged and on task in the absence of the class teacher. There will also be occasions where the successful candidate will provide cover across a range of other subject areas as required.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver pre-planned IT lessons and supervise students in the absence of the class teacher.
• Manage classroom behaviour effectively and maintain a positive learning environment.
• Support students in completing set work and achieving lesson objectives.
• Provide cover across other curriculum subjects when required.
• Follow school policies and procedures, including safeguarding and behaviour management.
• Build positive relationships with students and staff.

Person Specification

Essential

• Previous experience working in a school setting as a Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, or similar role.
• Strong classroom management skills and confidence leading groups of students.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A genuine interest in Information Technology.
• Ability to adapt quickly and work across different subject areas.

Desirable

• Experience delivering or supporting IT lessons.
• An aspiration to train as a teacher, particularly within IT.
• Relevant qualifications relating to education or IT.
