Job summary

Connex Education Partnership is recruiting for a Cover Supervisor/Teaching Assistant to support secondary schools in Leigh and the Warrington/Greater Manchester area. The role involves supervising classes of 25–30 students, bridging gaps when teachers are absent, and maintaining a safe, orderly learning environment.

The ideal candidate will hold a degree or equivalent, be 21+, and demonstrate strong communication, reliability and adaptability, with safeguarding awareness.

Qualifications

• Must be 21+ years old.
• Hold a degree or equivalent in any specialist subject.
• Experience with children or vulnerable adults.
• Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures (training provided).
• Engaging, confident, reliable and punctual.
• Available 8:30am–3:30pm, Mon–Fri, 3+ days a week.

Responsibilities

• Cover whole classes in the absence of a teacher.
• Bridge the gap until the staff member returns.
• Maintain classroom behaviour and safety.
• Liaise with school staff and colleagues.

We’re working with multiple schools across Greater Manchester and Warrington who are in need of confident and outgoing Cover Supervisors who can cover whole classes in the absence of a teacher. The successful person will have responsibility of between 25 – 30 students in a classroom environment and will be expected to bridge the gap until the staff member returns as best as possible on a short term basis.

• Must be aged 21 or above
• Hold a degree or equivalent in any specialist subject
• Good ability to effectively manage large groups of children
• Have some prior experience of working with children and/or vulnerable adults
• Have an understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures (training will be provided)
• Be an engaging and confident individual
• Good communication skills
• Professional, reliable and punctual
• Be adaptable and able to cope well with a hectic day!
• Be available 8.30am – 3.30pm Monday through Friday for 3 or more days a week (term time only)
