Job summary

Joseph Leckie Academy, based in Walsall, is seeking a Cover Supervisor to maintain continuity of learning when staff are absent by delivering pre-planned lessons and form times. The successful candidate will work under guidance from teaching staff to implement learning programmes and support pupils’ engagement and wellbeing.

This role provides an induction and opportunities for professional development, with progression pathways including teaching.

Qualifications

• Have at least 5 GCSEs including English and Maths at Level 4 or above.
• Experience with Key Stage 3 and 4 is advantageous.
• Passion for learning and supporting students across subjects and topics.
• Ability to work independently and manage time to cover lessons and deliver materials.
• Motivate, inspire and go the extra mile for students.
• Strong ICT skills and effective interpersonal communication.

Responsibilities

• Deliver pre-planned lessons and form times when staff are absent.

The Role

Are you a motivated and independentperson who is committed to supporting our students and staff? We are looking to appoint a dynamic and forward-thinkingCover Supervisor, to work as part of the Cover team to deliver lessons when staff are absent. Thesuccessful person will work under the instruction and guidance of teaching staff,Heads of Subjects and Heads of Year, to undertake the work set by staff toprovide programmers of learning, care and support for our students.

Experience of working with secondary age students andspecific subject knowledge and experience in specialist subject areas,especially core subjects, would be an advantage. The ability to cover practicallessons would also be advantageous.

The successful candidate should:

• have at least 5 GCSE's including English and Maths at Level 4 (Grade C) or above and A levels and or higher qualifications would be advantageous.
• have some experience of working with students at Key stage 3 and 4 in particular.

• be able to work independently and manage own time to arrive on time to cover lessons and deliver the materials set.
