Job summary

Willenhall E-ACT Academy is seeking a permanent Cover Supervisor to supervise classes in the absence of teachers, ensuring a positive learning environment and well‑managed behaviour. The role supports students’ progress, builds strong relationships across staff and the wider academy community, and utilises ICT to aid learning.

The post is 37 hours per week, 39 weeks per year, with start on 1 December 2026 and a defined benefits pension scheme. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Qualifications

• Level 3 Cover Supervision, HLTA or equivalent.
• GCSE Maths and English at grade 4 or equivalent.
• Enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.

Responsibilities

• Supervise classes in the absence of teachers and work on set work under guidance.
• Maintain a positive learning environment and manage behaviour.
• Build relationships with students, staff and the academy community.
• Monitor and evaluate student progress through observation and recording of achievement.
• Provide feedback and reports on students' progress as required.
• Encourage cooperative working and engage all students in activities.
• Use ICT to support learning and develop students’ independent use of it.

Job description

This permanent Cover Supervisor post sits at Willenhall E-ACT Academy, where it covers classes when teachers are absent. The work centres on supervising pupils through set work, keeping a positive learning environment, managing behaviour and recording and feeding back on students' progress. The post runs 37 hours a week over 39 weeks and calls for experience with children who have a wide range of educational needs. What’s required

Qualifications

• Level 3 Cover Supervision, HLTA or equivalent
• GCSE Maths and English at grade 4 or equivalent

Experience

• Relevant experience supervising children in a school setting
• Experience working with children who have a wide variety of educational needs

Skills & knowledge

• Working with an individual child or with a group
