Job summary

West Somerset College in Minehead is seeking a Cover Supervisor to keep lessons running during short-notice teacher absences for ages 13–16. The role covers 15 hours per week across two days during the term-time, over 39 weeks a year including INSET days.

DBS checks and eligibility to work in the UK are required. The post involves supervising classes, following preset lesson plans, supporting staff, invigilation, educational visits, and administrative tasks while maintaining pupil engagement and

• Give administrative and pastoral support when not covering lessons
• Keep accurate attendance records and manage behaviour in line with school policy
• Help with classroom displays and curriculum-related admin

Job description

West Somerset College needs a Cover Supervisor to keep lessons running during short-notice teacher absences, mainly with students in Years 9 to 11. The work centres on supervising whole classes from pre-set lesson plans, keeping pupils engaged, passing feedback to staff, and helping with invigilation, educational visits and attendance records. It is a term-time post of 15 hours across two days a week, over 39 weeks a year including INSET days. Visa sponsorship is not available, and the school wants someone to start as soon as possible.
