Job summary

Milk Education is recruiting a confident Cover Supervisor for a secondary school in the Nottingham area. The role is flexible, long-term or day-to-day, offering valuable classroom management experience in a supportive environment.

You will lead lessons across KS3–KS4 when needed, deliver pre-set work, manage behaviour, and provide clear handover notes to staff. A degree or teaching qualification is preferred, with commuting to the partner school in Nottingham.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Cover Supervisor, HLTA, sports coach, or youth mentor with secondary pupils.

We are currently recruiting for a confident Cover Supervisor to join a supportive secondary school situated in Telford on a flexible, long-term, or day-to-day basis.

This is an exceptional opportunity for a proactive Cover Supervisor looking to build meaningful classroom management experience within a modern secondary environment located within the Nweark area. As a regular Cover Supervisor in Telford, you will become a consistent, reliable presence across the school day.

Your main responsibilities will include:

• Leading whole-class lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 in the absence of the timetabled teacher.

• Delivering pre-set work, managing classroom behaviour effectively, and keeping pupils focused and engaged.

• Upholding high expectations for learning while creating a structured, positive classroom environment.

• Responding to individual student needs and supporting with general queries across a range of subject areas.

• Providing clear, comprehensive handover feedback to regular teaching staff at the end of each session.

• Working collaboratively as a trusted Cover Supervisor alongside departmental heads and pastoral teams in Nottingham.

Requirements or Skills:

• Prior experience working as a Cover Supervisor, Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA), sports coach, or youth mentor with secondary-aged pupils.

• Confident behaviour management skills with the ability to build quick rapport and de-escalate disruption.

• Strong communication, organisation, and problem-solving abilities.

• Degree-educated or holding relevant educational qualifications (ideal for aspiring secondary teachers).

• Available to commute easily to our partner secondary school based in Nottingham.
