Ormiston Bushfield Academy is seeking a Cover Supervisor to oversee students in classrooms during teacher absences. The role requires ensuring a structured learning environment and may involve supporting teachers and students across departments. Part-time applications are also welcome, making this an excellent opportunity for those looking to contribute to education in a supportive community.
We are seeking to appoint a Cover Supervisor to supervise students who are following a programme of study in a classroom environment during the absence of class teachers.
We are also able to consider part-time applications or a job share. If you would like to be considered for a part-time post, please indicate this in your letter of application and note the working days you would be available.
The Cover Supervisor is not required to teach but to supervise groups of students in the classroom, whose work has been set, and to ensure that learning takes place in a calm and orderly environment. This is an important role to provide additional support to both staff and students across the key stages, and will involve deployment to various departments in the Academy on an ‘as required’ basis. On those days when cover for whole classes is not required, duties will include supporting students alongside subject teachers in the classroom and assisting with supporting students in other areas across the academy as required.
Previous experience working in a school environment would be an advantage, but not essential as training will be given for the right candidate.
The working pattern for this position is Monday to Friday 8:10am – 3:30pm. You will be working school term time plus one week which equates to 39 working weeks per year.
The Academy
Ormiston Bushfield Academy is a good school (OFSTED – December 2019), conveniently located close to the Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire & Lincolnshire borders, and benefits from excellent road and rail links.
The Academy is continuing to expand and due to its popularity and increasing student numbers, a new £6 million wing was opened in September 2018. This extension is an addition to the £20.6 million state-of-the-art building that was completed September 2012, giving every student the opportunity to learn in an exciting and inspiring environment at an Academy that has been recognised for its high standards of inclusion. The Academy has continued to build on the successes of the last few years and achieved strong results at GCSE & A-Level in the summer.
