Job summary

Milk Education in Nottingham is currently recruiting a confident Cover Supervisor to join a supportive secondary school on a flexible, long-term, or day-to-day basis. You will provide cover across Key Stage 3 and 4, manage pre-set work, and help maintain a positive classroom environment.

The role is ideal for a proactive candidate with prior Cover Supervisor, HLTA, sports coaching, or youth mentoring experience.

Qualifications

• Prior experience as Cover Supervisor, HLTA, sports coach, or youth mentor with secondary pupils.
• Strong behaviour management and ability to build quick rapport.
• Excellent communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills.
• Degree-educated or has relevant educational qualifications.
• Willingness to commute to the partner school in Nottingham.

Responsibilities

• Lead whole-class lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 when the teacher is absent.
• Deliver pre-set work, manage behaviour, keep pupils focused and engaged.
• Uphold high learning expectations and maintain a structured, positive environment.
• Support with student queries across a range of subjects.
• Provide clear handover feedback to regular staff at the end of each session.
• Collaborate with departmental heads and pastoral teams in Nottingham.

Your main responsibilities will include:

• Delivering pre-set work, managing classroom behaviour effectively, and keeping pupils focused and engaged.

• Upholding high expectations for learning while creating a structured, positive classroom environment.

• Responding to individual student needs and supporting with general queries across a range of subject areas.

• Providing clear, comprehensive handover feedback to regular teaching staff at the end of each session.

• Working collaboratively as a trusted Cover Supervisor alongside departmental heads and pastoral teams in Nottingham.

Requirements or Skills:

• Prior experience working as a Cover Supervisor, Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA), sports coach, or youth mentor with secondary-aged pupils.

• Confident behaviour management skills with the ability to build quick rapport and de-escalate disruption.

• Strong communication, organisation, and problem-solving abilities.

• Degree-educated or holding relevant educational qualifications (ideal for aspiring secondary teachers).

• Available to commute easily to our partner secondary school based in Nottingham.
