Job summary

King Edward VI Handsworth Wood Girls' Academy is seeking a dedicated Cover Supervisor to support classes during teacher absence. You will supervise whole classes, implement work programmes, and maintain positive behaviour in line with school policies.

With safeguarding at the core, you will assist pupils, provide clerical support, and accompany staff on educational visits as required. The role offers career development through the academy's CPD programme.

Responsibilities

• Communicate, distribute and supervise work set by the teacher in accordance with Academy policy.
• Manage the behaviour of pupils to ensure a constructive environment.
• Respond to questions from pupils about process and procedures (excluding lesson content).
• Deal with any immediate problems or emergencies according to Academy policies.
• Collect completed work and return it to the appropriate teacher.
• Report back to the teacher on pupil behaviour and any issues arising.
• Provide general clerical/administrative support as required.
• Accompany staff and pupils on educational visits and take responsibility for a group under direction.
• Contribute to the overall ethos and aims of the Academy.
• Promote safeguarding and welfare of children and young people.

King Edward VI Handsworth Wood Girls’ Academy is seeking to appoint a dedicated and professional Cover Supervisor to join our team.

Purpose of the Role

To supervise whole classes during the absence of the class teacher under the guidance of teaching/senior staff. This includes implementing work programmes, managing student behaviours, and assisting pupils in relevant activities in line with the Academy’s policies and procedures.
