Job summary

Springwood High School is seeking a Cover Supervisor to join a dedicated support team. Start date ASAP with salary on Scale E, points 8–11, and hours of 31 per week across 39 weeks per year. Salary will be pro-rata for part-time hours.

The role involves supervising classes in the absence of the teacher, ensuring pupils are engaged with pre-set work, managing behaviour, and maintaining a safe environment in line with school policy.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• To cover lessons for teachers who are absent or otherwise occupied (e.g. training). To implement set work (always provided), manage classes, monitor progress, and assist pupils.
• To supervise pupils sitting examinations and ensure compliance with Examination Boards' regulations.
• To assist teachers in supervising school visits and ensuring health and safety of pupils on such visits.
• To provide technical and administrative support for the school’s academic, pastoral and administrative systems and to cover or support Year Managers.
• To undertake other duties as reasonably required by the Headteacher.

Salary: Scale E, Point 8 – 11, £14.36 - £15.06/hour - Approx. £19,879 – £20,856

(£27,709 - £29,071 FTE based on a 37 hour week)

Purpose of the Job

Provide high quality supervision of classes across the curriculum in the absence of the teacher, ensuring that pupils are engaged in pre-set work providing assistance as appropriate, managing pupil behaviour and ensuring a safe environment.

Responsibilities, but not limited to:

• To cover lessons for teachers who are absent or otherwise occupied (e.g. undertaking training). To work under the direction of a teacher to implement set work (which will always be provided), manage classes, monitor lesson progress, and assist pupils as appropriate.
• To supervise pupils sitting examinations, ensuring that the examinations comply with Examination Boards' regulations.
• To assist teachers in supervising school visits and ensuring the health and safety of pupils on such visits.
• To provide technical and administrative support for the academic, pastoral and administrative systems of the school. To cover or support Year Managers.
• To undertake other duties as reasonably required by the Headteacher.
