Job summary

Shenfield School in Shenfield, Essex, is looking for an experienced Cover Supervisor to join our supportive team. You will supervise classes across a range of subjects, deliver pre-prepared lessons, and maintain a positive learning environment for students aged 11-16.

The role is full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm, with a daily pay rate between 90 and 120 depending on experience. Enhanced DBS on Update Service (or willingness to obtain one) is required.

Job Overview:

• This school caters for students aged 11-16.
• Full-time, Monday-Friday, Cover Supervisor role.
• Supervise classes across a range of subjects in the absence of the usual classroom teacher.
• Deliver pre-prepared lessons and ensure students remain focused and engaged with their learning.
• Maintain a positive and well-managed classroom environment.
• Follow school policies and procedures relating to behaviour, safeguarding and student welfare.
• Support students with their work and encourage positive attitudes towards learning.
• Manage classroom behaviour confidently and effectively.
• Provide feedback to teaching staff regarding student engagement, behaviour and progress where appropriate.
• Build positive and professional relationships with students and staff.
• Support the wider school community with additional duties when required.

What we're looking for:

• Previous experience working with young people in an educational or similar setting.
• Experience as a Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or similar role is desirable.
• Strong classroom management and behaviour management skills.
• Confident working with students aged 11-16.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• A calm, confident and approachable manner.
• Ability to work independently and use initiative.
• A proactive, positive and flexible approach to supporting students and staff.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).

Salary will be determined by the successful candidate's qualifications and relevant experience, and will be in accordance with the client's pay policy.
