Job summary

Academics is seeking a dedicated Cover Supervisor for a thriving secondary school in Gidea Park. You will supervise classes across multiple subjects when teachers are absent, delivering pre-prepared lessons and maintaining a focused, orderly learning environment.

The role requires strong classroom management, excellent communication and the ability to work independently. DBS Update Service is preferred or willingness to obtain one; permanent commitment to school policies and student welfare is

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with young people in an educational or similar setting.
• Experience as a Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or similar role is desirable.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).

Responsibilities

• Supervise classes across a range of subjects in the absence of the usual classroom teacher.
• Deliver pre-prepared lessons and ensure students remain focused and engaged with their learning.
• Maintain a positive and well-managed classroom environment.
• Follow school policies and procedures relating to behaviour, safeguarding and student welfare.
• Support students with their work and encourage positive attitudes towards learning.
• Provide feedback to teaching staff regarding student engagement, behaviour and progress where appropriate.

Pay: 90- 120 per day (depending on experience)

Job Overview:

• This school caters for students aged 11-16.
• Full-time, Monday-Friday, Cover Supervisor role.
• Supervise classes across a range of subjects in the absence of the usual classroom teacher.

What we're looking for:

• Previous experience working with young people in an educational or similar setting.
• Experience as a Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or similar role is desirable.
• Strong classroom management and behaviour management skills.
• Confident working with students aged 11-16.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• A calm, confident and approachable manner.
• Ability to work independently and use initiative.
• A proactive, positive and flexible approach to supporting students and staff.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).

Salary will be determined by the successful candidate's qualifications and relevant experience, and will be in accordance with the client's pay policy.
