Job summary

The Education Network is seeking a Cover Supervisor to join a secondary school in the Durham area on a full-time maternity cover from 2 November 2026 through summer 2027. The role is 8:30am to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday, on a supply basis.

Responsibilities include supervising classes in the absence of teaching staff, delivering pre-set work, maintaining a positive classroom, and supporting students with learning and behaviour while following safeguarding policies.

Qualifications

• Experience in a secondary school or similar educational setting.
• Strong classroom management skills.
• Ability to supervise students independently.
• Professional, reliable and positive approach.
• Enhanced DBS via Update Service or willingness to apply.

The Education Network is currently recruiting for a Cover Supervisor to provide full-time maternity cover at a secondary school in the Durham area. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Cover Supervisor or a confident individual with relevant school-based experience to join a supportive school for a long-term placement, starting 2nd Novemberand continuing through to the summer.

The role will involve:

• Supervising classes in the absence of teaching staff.
• Delivering pre-set work and ensuring students remain focused and engaged.
• Maintaining a positive and well-managed classroom environment.
• Supporting students with their learning and behaviour.
• Following school policies and safeguarding procedures.

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• Previous experience working in a secondary school or similar educational setting.
• Strong classroom management skills.
• The confidence to supervise students independently.
• A professional, reliable and positive approach.
• An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to apply for one.
