Job description

Our client, HM Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS), is an agency of the Ministry of Justice. HMCTS provides administrative support for the legal system across England and Wales, ensuring justice works for everyone.

Position: Court Usher

Location: Aylesbury Courts

Type: Full Time, 37 hours per week, 9am - 5pm

Duration: Until end of September 2025 (with a possibility of extension). An excellent opportunity to gain experience within the Public Sector.

Pay Rate: £12.21 per hour

Primary Responsibilities
  1. Balance usher and administrative duties, working where needed.
  2. Serve as an essential first point of contact for court users.
  3. Maintain regular contact with judiciary and assist administrative staff.
  4. Meet with members of the public, including vulnerable witnesses and legal representatives; prepare court/hearing rooms.
  5. Complete documentation and support the efficient running of the court.
  6. Perform general clerical tasks as required to support HMCTS operations.
Skills and Experience
  • Friendly and approachable with excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • IT proficiency with adaptability to new technologies and software.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
