ALS Laboratories (UK) Ltd is seeking a Courier Driver for Otterbourne. You will drive a medium van, collect samples from the Isle of Wight and ensure proper handling and temperature control. You’ll maintain paperwork and vehicle checks, while delivering excellent service.

Role is part-time, 4 on 4 off, with a day rate and location allowance. You will be joining a team that values safety, reliability and professional client interactions.

Qualifications

• Valid UK driving licence and clean driving record.
• Experience driving medium wheel base vans.
• Good knowledge of UK road networks.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Flexible and reliable, able to work under pressure.
• Self-motivated, proactive and friendly.
• Able to take initiative and follow instructions.
• Own navigation device (ALS can provide if needed).

Responsibilities

• Drive a medium van, collect and drop off at start/end of shift.
• Maintain fridge temperature and handle samples safely.
• Complete paperwork accurately and log van temps and consignments.
• Perform daily checks and basic vehicle maintenance.
• Build professional relationships with clients and ALS staff.
• Report issues to Transport Manager and adapt to delays.

Job description

Courier Driver - Otterbourne

We have an exciting opportunity for a reliable individual to work as a van driver based at our Otterbourne site, responsible for collecting samples from Isle of Wight and delivering them to Otterbourne. The successful candidate will be punctual, able to multitask and be comfortable working in a team-oriented environment. Candidates must have a clean driving record and a valid, up-to-date driving licence.

About the Role

• Days Per Week: 4 on 4 off (10:30 - 18:30)
• Contract: Part Time and Permanent
• Pay: £13.45 per hour + £2000 location allowance per annum
• Hiring Manager: Shaun Millington
• Closing Date: Thursday 29th October 2026

You will be driving a medium wheeled van which you will collect and drop off at beginning and end of shift. The Day to Day Driving in a safe and appropriate manner; always courteous to other road users and being a great ambassador to our brand and values. Due to the nature of this work you will need to ensure the temperature control of the vehicles fridge is maintained at all times. Developing and maintaining a good professional relationship with clients and staff at ALS sites. Maintaining a degree of flexibility on collection runs to allow for additional requests and traffic delays. Accurate completion of paperwork, recording van temperatures and sample consignments. Daily checks, basic maintenance such as fluid top up and cleaning of the vehicle to be carried out Informing the Transport Manager of of any client issues or other pertinent Information

The Essentials

• Good adherence to the rules of the road and demonstrate excellent driver behaviour standards.
• Previous experience driving medium wheel base vans.
• Have a good working knowledge of UK road networks.
• Have excellent communication skills
• Be flexible and reliable
• Self-motivated, proactive, enthusiastic & friendly disposition
• Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
• Ability to act upon information given and use initiative
• Be able to provide your own navigation however we can provide if you do not have this.
