Job summary

ALS is hiring a Couri er Driver in Otterbourne to operate a medium wheelbase van, collecting samples from the Isle of Wight and delivering them to Otterbourne. The role is 4 on 4 off, 10:30–18:30, part-time and permanent with a £13.45 hourly rate plus a £2,000 annual location allowance.

You will ensure fridge temperature control, complete paperwork accurately and maintain vehicles, while staying flexible for extra requests and traffic delays.

Qualifications

• Valid driving licence required.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Flexible and reliable with a can-do attitude.
• Ability to stay calm under pressure and manage time effectively.
• Own navigation device preferred or use provided navigation.

Responsibilities

• Drive a medium wheelbase van safely and professionally.
• Maintain temperature control of the vehicle's fridge at all times.
• Build and maintain good relations with clients and ALS staff.
• Be flexible on collection runs to accommodate requests and traffic delays.
• Complete paperwork accurately and record van temperatures and sample consignments.
• Carry out daily vehicle checks and basic maintenance; report issues to Transport Manager.

Courier Driver - Otterbourne

We have an exciting opportunity for a reliable individual to work as a van driver based at our Otterbourne site, responsible for collecting samples from Isle of Wight and delivering them to Otterbourne.

You will be driving a medium wheeled van which you will collect and drop off at beginning and end of shift.

About the Role

Days Per Week: 4 on 4 off (10:30 - 18:30)

Contract: Part Time and Permanent

Pay: £13.45 per hour + £2000 location allowance per annum

The Day to Day

• Driving in a safe and appropriate manner; always courteous to other road users and being a great ambassador to our brand and values.
• Due to the nature of this work you will need to ensure the temperature control of the vehicles fridge is maintained at all times.
• Developing and maintaining a good professional relationship with clients and staff at ALS sites.
• Maintaining a degree of flexibility on collection runs to allow for additional requests and traffic delays.
• Accurate completion of paperwork, recording van temperatures and sample consignments.
• Daily checks, basic maintenance such as fluid top up and cleaning of the vehicle to be carried out
• Informing the Transport Manager of of any client issues or other pertinent Information

The Essentials

• Good adherence to the rules of the road and demonstrate excellent driver behaviour standards.
• Previous experience driving medium wheel base vans.
• Have a good working knowledge of UK road networks.
• Have excellent communication skills
• Be flexible and reliable
• Self-motivated, proactive, enthusiastic & friendly disposition
• Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
• Ability to act upon information given and use initiative
• Be able to provide your own navigation however we can provide if you do not have this.
