Job summary

CHEP is seeking a skilled Counterbalance FLT Driver for South Ockendon (RM15). The role involves operating 4.5-ton triple fork FLTs in a fast-paced yard, supporting production and haulier operations, with no night shifts.

The position offers a permanent, full-time contract with a competitive salary and generous benefits, including holiday entitlement and pension contributions. Location is South Ockendon, commutable from Rainham, Dagenham, Grays and surrounding areas; shifts are double days

Qualifications

• Experience as a Counterbalance FLT Driver in a busy yard.
• External FLT licence (RTITB or ITSSAR) preferred.
• Experience with double/triple fork FLTs is a big advantage.
• Safety-conscious, reliable and able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate FLT trucks to support production & haulier operations
• Direct visiting vehicles during loading & unloading
• Maintain smooth flow on production lines within agreed SLAs
• Assist with manual inspection & repair of yard equipment
• Report any damage or operational issues promptly
• Handle and rotate stock safely and efficiently

Job Description

Counterbalance FLT Driver – South Ockendon (RM15)
Salary: £28,624.43 + 20% shift allowance = £34,349.31 per year
Shifts: Double Days, Mon–Fri (6am–2pm / 2pm–10pm rotating weekly)
Contract: Full-time, Permanent

Location: South Ockendon, RM15 (commutable from Rainham, Dagenham, Grays, Purfleet, Hornchurch, Romford & surrounding areas)

About the role

We’re looking for a skilled Counterbalance FLT Driver to join CHEP – the global leader in pallet, crate, and container pooling. You’ll operate 4.5-ton triple fork FLTs in a fast-paced yard environment, supporting production and haulier operations.

What we need from you

• Experience as a Counterbalance FLT Driver (busy yard/HGV loading preferred)
• External FLT licence (RTITB or ITSSAR) is ideal – in-house licences considered
• Experience with double/triple fork FLTs = big advantage
• Safety-conscious, reliable, and able to work in a fast-paced environment
