Cost Engineer/Estimator

Department: Transport & Infrastructure

Location: London - Hybrid

Type: Perm

Description

We are seeking a Cost Engineer to join our expanding team in London during an exciting growth phase. You will play a vital role in supporting one of our key construction clients in the region by developing and implementing procurement and commercial strategies across various projects.

Responsibilities include:

1. Collaborating with the Senior Cost Engineer and Head of Estimating to ensure consistency in cost planning and estimating approaches as set by the client.
2. Producing cost planning and estimating documentation, working closely with a Senior Cost Engineer or independently, ensuring quality for internal and external review.
3. Providing assurance support to the estimating team, mentoring junior members, and supporting the development of project estimates.
4. Monitoring and managing construction budgets during preconstruction, including supporting change management processes.
5. Supporting cost quantification activities during planning and estimating phases.
6. Contributing to benchmarking data collection for preconstruction and delivery teams.
7. Managing stakeholder relationships to produce accurate estimates, including coordination with planning and procurement teams.
8. Presenting, negotiating, and justifying prices clearly and honestly to senior management and external partners.

About You - Essential:

• Proficiency in Excel and similar software tools.
• Strong client-facing and communication skills.
• Background in infrastructure main contracting, preferably in civil engineering.
• Experience in commercial or operational roles is acceptable.

Desirable:

• Experience with Candy Estimating Software.
• Experience with RIB Cost X software for quantification and estimating.
• Familiarity with AACE estimating principles and maturity levels.
• Flexible and mobile in work arrangements.
• Chartered status with recognized industry bodies such as ICE, CICES, RICS, or CIOB.
